The person behind the camera — and the one making sure you can relax in front of it.
I’m a photographer based in Melrose, photographing weddings, newborns and families across the Scottish Borders, Edinburgh, Northumberland and beyond.
But more than anything, my job is to make photography feel easy. You don’t need to know how to pose, have perfectly behaved children or worry about what happens next. I’ll guide you when you need me and give you space when you don’t.
Photographs should feel like you
The photographs you’ll love most aren’t always the perfectly posed ones.
They’re the laugh you didn’t expect. Your child reaching for your hand. The way your partner looks at you when you’re not watching. Those tiny newborn details you’re certain you’ll remember forever — until suddenly they’ve changed.
That’s why I keep things relaxed and natural, with enough guidance to help you feel comfortable without making your family session or wedding day feel like one long photoshoot.
You don’t have to be comfortable in front of a camera
So many people tell me, “I hate having my photograph taken” or “I’m terrible in photos.”
You really don’t need to worry about that.
My job isn’t to turn you into a model. It’s to give you enough gentle direction that you feel comfortable, then let you forget about the camera and enjoy what’s actually happening.
No pressure to perform. No complicated posing.
